And here's why: The Fuli is a nice family-owned guesthouse about 15 minutes from the Huangshan Scenic Area. My wife and I booked two nights at the Fuli with one night in between where we intended to camp on the mountain. Before I even arrived into town the owner 'Sean' had called me to see how we were coming along and to tell me he would pick us up when our bus arrived. His English is very good, and his wife also speaks some too. When we arrived, there he was. We took a 15 minute drive and we had arrived at the house. Sean introduced us to his wife and she showed us our room.Finding a clean hotel for a decent price is not always easy to do in China, but this place blows the competition away. Our queen-room was clean and freshly stocked with toilet paper and some soap/shampoo. The bad had a real mattress on it, now the plywood normally found in chinese hotels. The Fuli has a full kitchen on the first floor with traditional chinese foods for all three meals. They are very good, for sure - however they are a bit pricey. That's to be expected in a tourist area such as Huangshan. Prices on the menu for dinner range between 15-100 RMB for a dish. After dinner Sean sat down with us and asked what we wanted to do. We decided first to visit HongCun (the ancient village) and then to head to the mountain.Sean then asked about our mountain hiking plans and drew us a map to take along. The map is PRICELESS! Signage on the mountain is poor at best, even for chinese-speakers. After that he called and arranged our bus tickets and entrance fees to HongCun AND our return bus tickets back home. Again, after our mountain hike and camp we returned to the city and called Sean - he picked us up and gave nothing but the best service all over again.
