"Green" Facilities
National Stadium key design plans require that "the design of the National Stadium integrate the idea of continued development, using internationally advanced, environmentally friendly techniques and building materials to save energy. Natural wind and solar energy sources should be incorporated and waste removal management systems should be efficient. Electromagnetic radiation and light pollution should be curbed, along with the use of substances that deplete the ozone layer (ODS). Realizing international standards in regards to the engineering of Olympic venues is necessary to establish a model for environmental protection."
     1. Design Stage: During this process, environmentally friendly techniques and materials were selected to create the Olympic facility. The ideas of maintaining energy and preserving natural resources were also of utmost importance. The concepts of recyclable energy, solar power, and water conservation were among a few of the ideas considered during the design stage. With all these deliberate steps taken to engage in a "Green Olympics," the construction of the National Stadium has reduced its impact on the natural environment.
     2. Construction and Operations Stage: Through the tight control over the discharge of contaminated substances, proper waste management techniques and recycling processes, pollution as a result of construction has been limited. With advanced construction techniques and equipment, energy consumption has been limited, which has lowered the overall effect of the construction on the environment.
     3. The idea of a "Green Olympics" has been accomplished through the careful planning and execution of construction of the National Stadium. The environmentally-sound management system implemented welcomes the idea of an ecologically-friendly Olympics Games.
